Der Standard Selects NewsWay from ProImage

-        managing pages from editorial to the contract printer

-        producing soft proofs

-        a clear growth path for the future

London and Vienna – 9th October 2007:  During IfraExpo, Der Standard, the successful daily broadsheet established in Vienna, Austria, just 11 years ago, has selected NewsWay to replace an ageing workflow system, ProImage announced today.

“We needed a solution that will be robust, integrate with our existing systems, and provide a growth path and clear strategy for the future,” said Mr. Lasser, Der Standard.  NewsWay will allow us, with complete confidence, to automate the workflow of our pages all the way from our front-end systems through to Goldmann AB, our printer in Tulln.”

The new version 5.1 NewsWay software, launched by ProImage at IfraExpo, will be provided by local ProImage partner, ProPublish AB, who will also take responsibility for systems integration.

NewsWay software will take page content and production information from Der Standard’s editorial and advertising systems, and page planning information from Protec’s Millenium, and manage workflow through to imposition and the transmission of page pairs to the printer.

NewsWay software will also load balance two embedded Harlequin RIPs and allow pages to be proofed by the newspaper prior to bitmaps being transmitted to the printer.  If in the future the publisher wishes to use a PDF workflow, or pre-RIP advertisements so these may be proofed prior to transmission to the printer, NewsWay provides these additional capabilities.

The complex task of interfacing with disparate systems, managing the flow of data, producing soft proofs, and reporting on progress against the agreed schedule, is seamlessly accomplished by the NewsWay system,” says Ole Schlueter, Director, ProPublish

NewsWay will provide tight integration and end-to-end automation between Der Standard’s editorial offices and the press Goldmann AB,” adds Mr. Schlueter.  “Via a standard Web browser, any authorized user will be able to see production progress, from front-ends through to the printer, maintaining maximum productivity of all the various processes, every step of the way.”
