Princeton, NJ – 11th July, 2007:  ProImage is today pleased to announce that Dow Jones and Company has selected NewsWay, its production workflow, page tracking and transmission solution.

NewsWay will provide an integrated global solution for the distribution, tracking, and delivery of pages and page components for Dow Jones’ print publications, including its flagship publication The Wall Street Journal.

“Dow Jones selected browser-based NewsWay because of its flexibility and ability to deliver a single unified solution for the needs of prepress, production and IT departments, worldwide,” said Rick Shafranek, ProImage America VP of Sales and Marketing.

When fully implemented NewsWay will manage Dow Jones’ global newspaper and commercial page distribution for 17 domestic printing plants within the United States and from two international hubs located in Europe and Asia.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious project,” said John Ialacci, ProImage America President. “More than 100 newspapers in North America now use NewsWay to manage their mission-critical workflow for their print products. NewsWay is currently deployed at more than 15 of the top 20 largest daily newspapers in North America.”

The first phase of the installation is scheduled to come online in August with the international hubs in Europe and Asia. In order to provide a smooth implementation, NewsWay will initially accept pages from Dow Jones’ legacy page distribution system.

The latest NewsWay Version 5.0 solution will allow for extensibility should Dow Jones need to add additional printing plants, additional transport mechanisms (including internet delivery), or additional routes.

At Dow Jones, the NewsWay system is designed to receive and distribute PDFX-1A pages, create Edition Plans, provide the logic to rename the pages to the specification required by printing plants, and burn different sets of furniture needed for the various remote plants. It will also provide production tracking, job scheduling, softViewing, with automated and intelligent workflow and transmission management.

One cost-effective integrated production solution:

NewsWay has the ability to control and manage workflow from a variety of front-end systems through to output. It can monitor production status, both at origination and print sites, irrespective of location.

NewsWay uses a standard Web browser and PC hardware to manage PDF/TIFF workflows including: imposition, job planning, network workflow and output management, resource scheduling, and production tracking. The system performs load balancing on all resources under its control and will drive both imagesetters and CTP equipment directly.

NewsWay provides additional modules which may be used for graphical page tracking, edition planning, annotation attachments, remote soft proofing, bitmap editing, Ink-key setting, and much more. NewsWay also integrates with press control systems, providing one cost-effective integrated production solution.
