Le Journal de Montréal selects NewsWay as its future-proof workflow and integration solution
Princeton, NJ – 25th April 2006: Le Journal de Montreal, Quebec, Canada, a Quebecor company, is in the process of installing ProImage NewsWay as the workflow foundation for its move to CtP.
NewsWay will provide end-to-end integration and workflow management from Le Journal de Montreal’s front-end systems to NewsColor newsprint proofers; new Creo Ctp devices; through to the printing press via the newspaper’s PECOM press control system.
Software modules to be implemented include production tracking; softViewing and approvals; automated event notification; plate furniture and text burning; deadline monitoring; priority scheduling; a plate editor and TCP/IP transmission.
NewsWay will burn a barcode on to the page image for plate sorting and a dynamic barcode will also be burned for individual plate tracking beyond the CTP devices.
To further improve productivity, NewsWay will automatically create edition plans from data provided by Layout 8000 and its Plate Wizard will create custom (8-up) Impositions or other custom plate configurations.
Cleverly, NewsWay will compare pages planned in Layout 8000 against those planned by PECOM, and highlight any differences. It will also automatically calculate ink coverage by column for each page, and forward the computed results in CIP 3 format to PECOM’s ink setting system.
The system will provide production management with valuable data such as when pages where released, RIPped, approved, or output, and will send for remaking any new plates that are required.
“We’re delighted to have won this important order,” says Rick Shafranek, ProImage America VP of sales. “We know that NewsWay is the most flexible, and believe it has clearly become the preferred workflow and integration solution for newspapers in North America.”
