Princeton, NJ –1stt June, 2006: ProImage has today announced that the Observer-Dispatch, Utica, NY, and the Appeal-Democrat, Marysville, CA, are the latest U.S. newspapers to implement its browser-based NewsWay total workflow solution.
The Observer Dispatch will output to two KPG Trendsetter CtP devices while the Appeal-Democrat will be driving Creo and KPG CtP equipment.
Rick Shafranek, VP Sales, ProImage America, comments: “With the current consolidation that is going-on in the industry, scalability, and ability to drive almost any output device, is seen as important.
“Most CtP manufacturers offer their own proprietary digital front-end software, however it is good to see so many newspaper printers and publishers really appreciate the value provided by NewsWay’s flexibility, ease-of-use, and great performance. While NewsWay also provides the integration, additionally it helps manage and maximize the performance of the other systems.”
NewsWay software accepts files from editorial and advertising systems; will integrate with existing planning software or generate its own edition plans; automatically assemble pages ready for proofing or plate-making; keeps track of progress against schedule; applies page furniture, barcodes and crop marks; load balances output devices (proofers, film or CtP); and provides data to punch benders and plate sorters, as well as ink values to press control systems.
“ProImage people have a ‘can-do’ attitude, but we’re helped in that the software is designed in such a way that we can implement workflow solutions tailored to specific needs, be it a different product – a different customer – or a different language,” adds Mr. Shafranek.
